Tradition and experience
Johann and Theresia Stiegelmar laid the cornerstone of our estate's success in 1956. In the 1980s, the three sons, Hans, Gerhard, and Walter assumed the management of the company and began to restructure it with a focus on high quality production and concentration on varieties typical for the region. Improvements in cultivation and handling, expanded know-how, participation in the "Vinology" project and increased exchange of ideas with colleagues have all helped make our firm one of the top vintners in the region.
Innovation and new ideas
Often the sandbox was traded for the vineyard and the craft supplemented by contemporary science from the wine academy. Today Andrea, Jürgen, Kersten and Katharina Stiegelmar are the ones who continue to envelop tradition with continued innovation. The focus on quality is one of the pillars and we add to it with the innovative ideas of the third generation. Above all since 2000 interdisciplinary know-how-not just oenology-has assured the company's further development.
Along with our main markets: Austria, Germany and Switzerland, we are intensifying the international presence of our wines. Even the diversification of our varietals is an expression of our creative and business expansion. Whether it is the Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon grapes with which we have expanded or varietals portfolio or the barrique maturation in original French wine casks that reinforce the range of tastes. The young generation of vintners bring ambition and élan to the firm, the foundation for future top products. The youngest member of the family, Maximilian, son of Andrea Stiegelmar, also serves as inspiration. Now he nearly knows his parent's business better than the playground and already has learned the craft of a vintner while at play.
