heideboden 2015 quality wine

Variety: Zweigelt 70%, Blaufränkisch 30%

Age of vines: 12-46 years

Terroir: The grapes for this wine originate from various sites in the Heideboden. Heideboden is the designation for the level sites reaching to the lake, characterised by warm, porous gravel black-earth soils, thereby lending the wine a special body.

Cultivation: yield reduction to 7 grapes/ vine, selectively harvested by hand on September 22nd and October 9th.

Maturation: selection of grapes, gentle processing, controlled maceration, deacidification, aged 18 months in barrique (second and third filling), bottled on March 17, 2017

Wine: intensive deep dark ruby red with a pale edge; the nose has a complex dark blackberry and blueberry fruit with nuances of heart cherry, vanilla and dark chocolate extending through the palate; soft and smooth with compact mellow tannin structure and delicate roasted components, long finish.
