hochäcker 2013 quality wine
Age of vines: Between 17 and 33 years
Terroir: The grapes for this wine originate in the higher terraces of the Parndorfer Platte. Characteristic for these sites are cooler calciferous gravel soils with sandy substrate, making for a fine fruit accent along with a high degree of ripeness and complexity.
Cultivation: yield reduction to 1 grape/shoot, selectively harvested by hand on 27th and 28th September
Maturation: selection of grapes, gentle processing, 7 days skin contact, controlled fermentation, deacidification in barrique, batonnage, aged 18 months in barrique, bottled on 30th June 2015
Wine: light shiny straw yellow; there are delicate nuances of mineralic and brioche notes and vanilla with a mellow intense aroma of mango, peach and ananas; the intense fruitiness is extending through the palate highlighted with a discreet flavoring of clove; very juicy; a very long finish with a very discreet aroma of liquorice and ripe tannin texture.
