hochäcker 2015 quality wine

Variety: Chardonnay

Age of vines: Between 19 and 35 years

Terroir: The grapes for this wine originate in the higher terraces of the Parndorfer Platte. Characteristic for these sites are cooler calciferous gravel soils with sandy substrate, making for a fine fruit accent along with a high degree of ripeness and complexity.

Cultivation: yield reduction to 1 grape/shoot, selectively harvested by hand on 21st September

Maturation: selection of grapes, gentle processing, 7 days skin contact, controlled fermentation, deacidification in barrique, batonnage, aged 18 months in barrique, bottled on may 08, 2017

Wine: strong bright straw yellow; it smells of white peach and pepper; there is also a very fine minerality with notes of vanilla and brioche; the palate continues the fruitiness with intense pineapple and mango aromas, underlaid with a discreet spice of clove; very juicy and very long lasting in the finish with a very fine liquorice note and good tannin texture (05.05.2017)

Specifications: Alcohol 13.5% vol., Residual sugar 1.4 g/l, Acidity 4.1 g/l
